23rd May 2019 in Berlin

Sold out cinema on 23.05.2019 at the regulars’ table of ver.di FilmUnion!

Here is a short report about the evening by the moderator of the event, Gunther Eschke:

Sold out film screening at Wolf Kino

Giving the victims a voice was the declared intention of director Mala Reinhardt and her team from Kreuzberger filmArche e.V. when they began work on their documentary film project “Der zweite Anschlag”. The racist attacks of the NSU, in Mölln and Rostock-Lichtenhagen caused outrage, but the victims remained almost faceless in the media. Reinhardt succeeded in winning the trust of the relatives and survivors, questioning them in intensive interviews and accompanying them in their current commitment against racism.

This was reason enough for the ver.di Filmunion Berlin to present the film, which was praised by the jury of the ver.di Award for Solidarity, Humanity and Fairness at DOK Leipzig 2018, as part of its regular get-together. In the sold out studio of the WOLF Kino Neukölln, the visitors were moved and affected after the film screening. This was followed by a lively discussion with Mala Reinhardt about the development of the film, its social background and the consequences for today’s political action.
